Weston & Sampson is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer with 0–3 years of experience. This candidate must have a strong work ethic, a desire to be part of a growing team, and be located in the National Capital Region (District of Columbia, Virginia, or Maryland). In this role, you will work under the guidance of experienced engineers to support various geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands-on experience and develop their skills in a supportive environment.

 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct field investigations and soil sampling
  • Prepare boring logs, stormwater best management practice inspection reports, and daily site visit reports
  • Collect and submit samples for environmental testing
  • Perform analysis and testing
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and proposals
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop engineering solutions
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
  • Participate in construction observation and monitoring
  • Obtain applicable certifications for erosion and sediment control inspections

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prepare and maintain electronic field records efficiently and accurately
  • Proficiency in ACAD drafting software
  • Valid driver’s license and able to provide own reliable transportation to local and regional project sites
  • Experience with geotechnical field investigations and construction observation is preferred
  • Dam safety engineering experience or interest is preferred
  • Experience with erosion and sediment controls is preferred
  • Interest in stormwater engineering, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, or environmental compliance is preferred
