Weston & Sampson is seeking a Project Engineer to perform engineering and design work to support the execution of natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects along the east coast of the Unites States. The location of the position is flexible and can be based out of our Massachusetts, Connecticut, North Carolina, or South Carolina offices.

 

Our growing Energy Practice seeks thoughtful and innovative individuals who truly want to make a difference enhancing, protecting, and sustaining the natural and built environment to improve the quality of life. 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Support the permitting, design and construction phases of gas distribution and pipeline, and LNG facility projects in any of our geographic regions.
  • Develop/Mentor staff in performing technical analysis on natural gas related projects.
  • Supervise and lead project teams to perform engineering studies and designs using recognized industry standards and regulatory-compliant approaches.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior engineering staff.
  • Pursue new work opportunities through established client relationships, market sector awareness, and competitive pursuits, including participation in proposal development and interviews / presentations.
  • Participate in professional organizations and technical committees.
  • Develop and define project scope, schedule, and fee; determine work procedures, staffing, and sub-consultant assignments.
  • Collaborate and build strong working relationships with internal multi-disciplinary teams.
  • The selected individual should expect to work on a variety of energy projects at any given time as workload requires but an emphasis will be placed on natural gas and LNG related projects.
  • Establish and develop external teaming relationships.
  • Build and maintain strong business metrics for their teams.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical (or relevant) Engineering.  Master’s degree preferred.
  • PE certification preferred.
  • 6 to 8 years of relevant experience on natural gas, LNG or water/wastewater utility projects.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Some travel will be required to client meetings and project sites.
  • Organizational/time management skills are required.
  • Possess high ethical standards and committed to producing high quality work with a commitment to learning, teamwork, respect, and integrity.
