Weston & Sampson is currently seeking an Environmental Project Engineer or Project Manager with 5-10 years of experience in our Portsmouth, NH or Reading, MA office. This candidate must have a strong work ethic and desire to be part of a growing team with a focus on environmental assessment and remediation. 

 

The successful candidate will be familiar working with MassDEP, NHDES, and MEDEP regulations, with an emphasis on the assessment and remediation of contaminated sites, including NHDES’ Env-Or 600 Rules, Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP), and Maine Remedial Action Guidelines for Contaminated Sites. Candidates must have or be on track to obtain their PE license.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Oversight of staff performing environmental assessment and remediation at cleanup sites and redevelopment projects in MA, NH, and ME.
  • Prepare sampling and analysis plans, reports documenting environmental assessment, remedial planning, and related activities in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Prepare contract plans and technical specifications for site remediation.
  • Supervise and lead project teams to perform environmental and engineering studies and designs using recognized industry standards and regulatory-compliant approaches at cleanup sites and redevelopment projects in MA, NH, and ME.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior engineering staff.
  • Pursue new work opportunities through established client relationships and competitive pursuits, including participation in proposal development and interviews / presentations.
  • Participate in professional organizations and technical committees.
  • Develop and define project scope, schedule, and fee; determine work procedures, staffing, and sub-consultant assignments.
  • Supervise multiple projects and clients along with managing technical, budgetary and client aspects of projects

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • PE certification or ability to obtain considered a plus but not required.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience.
  • Experience working in the environmental field with the focus on project management and site investigation and remediation of contaminated sites in NH, ME, and MA.
  • PE certification or ability to obtain considered a plus but not required.
  • Experience overseeing field services (e.g., construction oversight, soils logging, drilling oversight) a requirement.
  • Experience with client management and business development
  • Ability to manage the workload demands of diverse projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with multiple staff members and clients.
  • Positive attitude and able to communicate effectively with others.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
