Weston & Sampson is currently seeking Resident Representatives to meet our current workload for multiple horizontal construction projects at various locations in Boston, MA for the upcoming construction season. The projects are expected to include inspection of sidewalk and pedestrian ramp reconstruction, roadway reconstruction (including drainage, curbing, sidewalks, street lighting, etc.), and roadway resurfacing.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Expected assignments are varied, and the candidate will typically be part of a team working with and reporting directly to Boston Public Works Department representatives or senior Weston & Sampson staff
  • Able to provide a flexible working schedule as project needs arise
  • Expected to assure Contractor’s compliance with the City of Boston Public Works Department Specifications, Contract Documents, and Construction Management requirements
  • Ability to read plans, understand Contract Specifications, and details
  • Record work progress, measure quantities and prepare daily task reports
  • Inspect visually and accept/reject materials, equipment and supplies.
  • Observe daily construction and record site conditions for contact conformance
  • Prepare daily record construction work
  • Record and report problems and failures to comply with contract documents

What you will bring:

  • Associates, Bachelor’s or equivalent construction experience
  • 1-4 years of construction inspection experience with roadway, sidewalk and/or underground utility projects.
  • Underground utility construction inspection oversight experience.
  • Must have experience with general construction inspection policies, procedures and administrative requirements.
  • Working knowledge and experience with interpreting contract documents, including compliance with prevailing safety regulations; excellent public relation and communication skills are a must.
  • The ability to prepare and maintain field records and record keeping methods
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook in laptop / tablet environment is a plus
  • Ability to work well with contractors, engineers, municipality and residents
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to provide own reliable transportation
