Weston & Sampson is currently seeking a Hydrologic/Hydraulic Modeler with 5-10 years of experience in our Water Discipline.  We are open to any of our Weston & Sampson office locations.  Experience in hydraulic modeling (1D/2D), ideally with a focus on modeling in complex urban environments and being able to integrate coastal, riverine, and piped infrastructure flooding environments.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct and coordinate analyses and computer-aided evaluations of surface water systems, including watersheds, rivers, and lakes.
  • Model and design stormwater BMPs, green infrastructure, and LID projects.
  • Prepare Letter of Map Revision applications.
  • Coordinate and manage small projects with a focus on surface water modeling.
  • Prepare clear and concise written and verbal summaries of technical material for both technical and lay audiences.
  • Work independently and effectively communicating results to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Some travel will be required to client meetings and project sites within New England and the mid-Atlantic and Carolinas.

What You’ll Bring:

  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or similar degree is required.
  • MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or similar degree is a plus.
  • Successful candidates will have 5 to 10 years of experience and have solid understanding of surface water hydrology and collection system hydraulics.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to pass exam within the first six months of employment is preferred.
  • Currently certified or interested in becoming certified as a Certified Floodplain Manager.
  • Knowledge of surface water hydrology and collection system hydraulics.
  • Experience with HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, SWMM or other hydrologic modeling software.
  • Experience with unsteady-state hydraulic modeling in both open channel and piped environments using software such as HEC-RAS, SWMM, ICM, and others.
  • Willing to collaborate remotely with coworkers in other office locations.
  • Confident, self-motivated, articulate person with excellent communication skills and willingness to learn and work in a team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational/time management skills are required.
  • Valid driver’s license required
